Bream Head Reserve from Manaia

Rangers Report – June 2012

Ranger Pete holding a kiwiThe 1st of June was a major and exciting milestone for the Trust with several months of paper work coming to fruition. The Trust has secured a three year funding package from the Ministry of the Environment totaling just over $195,000 and yes that is the right number of zeros! This is absolutely fantastic news for the project and means the Trust is now in a very strong position to fulfill its aim of intensively managing the whole Reserve. We have learnt a great deal in the past couple of years from working in the Core Area and the same management will now be progressively applied to the whole Reserve over the next three years. The first task on the list is to engage another contract Ranger and to then expand the management area to the west of the Peach Cove track towards Mt Lion.
