We found a rare Kumara Moth Caterpillar and expert advice from local DOC biodiversity staff, based on the evidence collected, has suggested the cause of death of our 10 Grey Faced Petrel chicks.

Out on the hill it is getting drier and hotter, and this month we have sad news about our grey faced petrels.

Five fledglings North Island Robins spotted off the nest with their parents and four nests with eggs/chicks that will hopefully take flight too.

Bird breeding bonanza brings simply sublime September success!

It’s been a great month for the Trusts’ Rangers and Volunteers again with plenty of maintenance done on our tracks and equipment.

Like the temperature, predator numbers have taken a real dive in the last couple of weeks with only five pests caught in traps.

June 2016 was the month of the volunteer at Bream Head with the public and school planting days going very well indeed.

A large crowd welcomed the birds at the Ocean Beach Car Park before our special volunteers did the hard yards of carrying the individual translocation boxes up to the release site.

April 8th 2016 will be remembered as the time in our local history when species unable to return naturally were re-introduced to Te Whara/Bream Head.
