A big congratulations to our very own Greg Innes who picked up the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Te Taiao’ award at the 2023 Whakamānawa ā Taiao – Environmental Awards on July 22. The awards were ran by Northland Regional Council.
Greg spent 13 years as the BHCT Chair, having retired from the position earlier this year. During this time of exponential growth in the work being undertaken at the Bream Head Scenic Reserve, Greg oversaw the trapping of 1000's of pests, the planting of 40,000 native trees, and the reintroduction of species such as the toutouwai (North Island robin) and popokatea (whitehead).
This special award for Outstanding Contribution to Te Taiao recognizes Greg for his years of leadership and commitment to restoring and protecting native biodiversity and inspiring others to get involved.
The Trust thank Greg for his leadership over the many years he has been involved.
